Family

Lately I can't get over how lucky Tyler & I to have such wonderful family.
I know too many people who don't have the support of family like we do.
It sure is a great thing!

& aren't they good looking?

Civic Duty

It finally happened folks. I got summoned for jury duty.

Am I crazy for NOT dreading this?

Secretly I'm slightly excited...(if the above didn't make me crazy I'm certain this does!)

Maybe that will be short lived but I really don't think I will dread it like the rest of the world. I sort of have an obsession with our judicial system...weird I know!

Tyler got the news before me today, since was the one who got our mail. He came in with a big grin on his face, handed the notice to me and immediately started laughing in my face, then called me a sucker. Little did he know I wasn't at all displeased with the notice and a few minutes later informed him that really he in fact is the sucker because duh...you get paid for jury duty!!! He shot back with a..."yeah (chuckle) like a dollar an hour!" and what was my comeback you ask? Try a..."well that's more than I am making now (duh Tyler)!

Bottom line: jury duty is as exciting as things get at the Hunsaker house these days. Ugh.

Day 2: DISNEYLAND!!!

The fun began Wednesday when we woke up bright and early and rushed to Cars Land to see what all the hype was about. We were in the park 15 minutes before opening and couldn't believe the crowd. They had it gated off so you couldn't get to Cars Land until 8, so we waited in a mass of people and then as soon as it opened we took off to the Radiator Springs Raceway. We didn't really have an actual wait, but it took 10 minutes or so just to walk through the line (tells you how crazy packed it gets). It was a very fun ride, and its crazy how well Disney pays attention to detail. Its no wonder kids believe its all real...it practically is!
I was pretty annoyed that Disneyland doesn't make Suburban size race cars...I mean lets get realistic Disneyland...lots of Mormons visit Disneyland. The least you can do is make sure there is a car to fit the whole family so the parentals don't get kicked to the curb.
Waiting in the line at Luigi's Flying Tires

Our tire group, we were smart at let the skinny little guy come with us. It worked to our benefit. These things are NOT meant to seat 3 people, and yet they do anyway. It was a definite squeeze!
These poor kids got stuck, after waiting 50 minutes in line for this less than exciting line...for us, this made the ride worth it...but for them probably not so much. They were leaning every which way (thats how you move these so called bumper cars)  and it got them absolutely nowhere, but don't worry we made sure to make it there way and point, laugh, and snap pictures.
For those of you who know my Dad, know he hates Disneyland. Then again, his ideal vacation is going to a ranch in the middle of know where... preferably in Montana. Anywho, Soaring Over California is what apparently keeps his Disneyland sanity, although this picture clearly says otherwise...
In all honesty, the crowds really weren't bad at all, but our iphones sure helped the time pass by.

Day 1: Long Beach

I finally got around to getting our pictures from our trip uploaded and so I'm back folks...only a month late.

Day 1 was pretty uneventful, we left on Tuesday evening and flew into Long Beach.
None of us had ever flown into Long Beach before and it was definitely a new experience.
Such a tiny airport, but it was actually pretty nice in the fact that we had our luggage within minutes of landing and only had to walk across the street to pick up our rental cars.
Tyler and my Dad were are designated drivers and with good reason.
They both are a little crazy and were able to keep up with each other well.
I think Nat and Nate were a little nervous with a few of the crazy things Tyler did to stay behind my dad, including but not limited to almost getting run over by a bus.
By the time we were checked in and settled we were all starved so we went out and got some food.
When our car got back, it was a while after and my dad and his car load still wasn't back so we decided that it would be funny to close our door (we had adjacent rooms) and turn out the lights and make it look like we were gone too and we hid Nate in their closet so he could jump out and scare them. Well the plan backfired on Nate. He had to wait 20+ minutes in the closet and then when they got in, he realized he got himself stuck and so jumping out wasn't exactly possible so he decided he'd wait for one of them to open the closet and he'd scare them even more then. Once again, it didn't work as planned. My mom opened the closet, didn't see him, and ended up throwing her shoes at him. Ha...guess the joke was on him.

 Anxiously waiting for our plane
Tyler was really stoked about the trip.
Nate texting all SIX of his girlfriends :)

August.

I'm definitely no longer the blogger I once was.  Quite honestly I go weeks without even thinking about the blog world.I don't really miss it but at the same time I really do and it makes me sad that I don't blog much anymore. Sooo hopefully this fall I can get back into it and actually have the desire to do it. Unfortunately though I quite literally have maxed out the space on my computer's hard drive.
No joke. I can't even save a single picture to it so until I find the time to transfer everything off it, my computer is incredibly slow and I'm unable to upload all my pictures to it. Football starts this week though which means aside from the BYU games I am a widow, so maybe I will find some time! This month we went on a vacation to California, one of my bestie's got married, I quit my job, and we started school so there is a lot to blog about so stay tuned and until then...

Grandma Hunsaker

Isabell Agnes Hunsaker
July 18, 1915-July 18, 2012
Tyler's grandma passed away a couple weeks ago so we made the trip to Smoot, Wyoming for the funeral. As sad as it always is to lose a loved one, it was most definitely her time to go. Tyler's grandpa passed away 35 years ago, so I can only imagine how ready she probably was to be reunited with him. She chose the perfect way to go out too, right on her birthday after a nice breakfast with her kids. The funeral was a great tribute to her and I'm so glad we were able to make it. All her kids spoke and they all had some great stories to share. I only ever met her once, but I was so glad to learn a little more about her and a little more of the Hunsaker Heritage. One thing that was most evident is how loved she was by her family. She had A LOT of family there to pay tribute to her. The Hunsaker family is HUGE! Its amazing to see how much family can grow from generation to generation. After the funeral, the entire procession went from the church and took a detour passed the Findlay Diamond barn and her home before going to the cemetary. I thought that was a great way to pay tribute to her and cool that she got to take one last ride passed it herself.

Smoot Cemetary

Tyler's Oldest brother Chad was one of the palbearers and both Tyler and his brother Russ were honorary palbearers.
Grandma Hunsaker's Children
Mike, Kent, Lloyd, Ronna, Bob, Spencer, and Kirk
(I can officially be a Hunsaker if I can name them from behind right?)

The very incomplete Hunsaker family
No Misty, Lydia, Dustin, and no kids.

Can't leave Smoot without going and snapping some pictures with Grandma's barn!

These pictures are nothing fabulous but I snapped them, because its crazy how big the Hunsaker family is. We had to wait 20 minutes in line for food and every seat in the gym got used. There were quite a few people who weren't able to make it too!

Birthday Festivities Round 1

We started celebrating Tyler's birthday the weekend before the actual day. I was able to leave work several hours earlier than planned so we went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse with my parents. We were in the parking lot getting ready to leave and this cute Roadhouse employee started yelling at us BYU fans to come over. I grabbed Tyler by the arm and went over to talk to him, but I didn't make it all the way because he told me no wives allowed! Tyler ended up having a nice little chat with him about BYU and they basically came to terms that they both hate the U.

The 4th of Forever Ago

July is a month that I always struggle to find time for blogging.
Guess that's what happens when your having fun!

For the 4th of July this year, I had to work, but got off early enough that I was able to make it to a late lunch with Russ and Misty and still do all the fun stuff at night. We went to the annual Lunt BBQ. The Lunt's are long time friends with Tyler's family and have tons of people over on the 4th and always put on a great firework show and have lots of yummy food! This year we weren't there very long and I didn't take any pictures, but it was still really fun.

I did take a picture of my cupcake from our BBQ.
It tasted as a good as it looks!
After eating at the BBQ we went to Kevin and Page's house to join up with my family to watch the fireworks. From Kevin's house there is a clear shot of the Thanksgiving Point fireworks so we figured it would be a perfect place to watch them from. Then we got an even better idea and climbed up on his roof and watched all the fireworks all over the Valley! And I must say, Thanksgiving Point's were pathetic compared to everyone's personal ones!
Picture of the fire from Kevin's roof
After all the fireworks we went to my parents and I watched the quail fire through my dad's scope. Yes, I'm a complete nerd. I have to admit as sad as fires are, I am really intrigued by them and was really mesmerized by this one. I think Tyler thought I was nuts. I could have stayed all night just to stare at it.
Hope everyone's 4th was as fun as ours!
Stay tuned for lots more July posts!!!

Park City

Last Saturday was the Bullock family reunion and my Aunt Sharolyn and her family were able to come to Utah for it. Monday we spent some quality Schaefer family time in Park City. I love being able to spend time with the Schaefer side, especially because these days it doesn't happen to often. The girls went to the outlets while the guys were golfing and then we met for lunch and to go on the alpine slide and coaster. It was lots of fun and the day had a lot of highlights, including Brooke walking into a stop sign, Jersey giggling her way down the coaster and just catching up with my cousins!
And yes, there were more there than just my immediate family, even though my pictures make it seem otherwise.

WISHING EVERYONE A HAPPY AND SAFE
(hopefully fire-free!)
4TH OF JULY!!!
I will be working for part of the day, but then Tyler and I will be celebrating by barbequing
with our friends and family!
There will be fireworks involved, but we won't be lighting them. We're leaving that job up to Lehi's fire dept.
We don't want to be responsible for anything like this...

Seven Peaks

I live for the summertime and absolutely love being in the sun, so on my day off its the number one thing I want to do if I can. This week Tyler and I took his sister's kids to Seven Peaks and my little brother and sister joined us. It was such a fun day, it made me realize how boring Tyler and I can be when we there alone. The kids made it much more fun and lively. I wish I would have taken some pictures of them in action, because they were fun to watch. Brinley was especially funny. She loved the lazy river and kept wanting to go back. Chaston was a little dare devil and kept trying to take off into the 6ft. part of the wave pool (he had a life jacket on) and he was dying to go on all the big slides and even the rope swing. Unfortunately for him he was way too short for all of it! Mccall was tall enough but she wasn't so sure she wanted to brave some of the big slides!

Brinley was really determined not to get burned. Her mom put sunscreen on her before she left. Then she wanted some on when we got there and again about an hour later, then 30 minutes later we were sitting on our towels Natalie turned to me and said, ummm Nicole...I turned around to see her legs caked in it! We had a good laugh and had to scrape a lot of it off and share it with everyone else.
