2 Years

I am a week and a half behind, but Tyler and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary on the 29th.
I can definitely say I love him way more than the day that I married him & am looking forward to forever with him.
HAPPY 2 YEARS TO US!

Shantel's Wedding Cap

One of my longest friends got married on Thursday. Shantel and I have been friends since I was in 1st grade and she, in Kindergarten. It was a sad day in 9th grade when I moved away and we were no longer only a few houses down but none-the-less we have stayed friends. It was so great to get to be in the temple and watch her and her now husband, Kyle, get sealed to one another. It was a great day and she looked so gorgeous. Her dress was beautiful (my pictures don't do it justice at all.) and all in all it was a perfect day.

Here are a few pics via Instagram.

Anniversary Post

I can hardly believe it, but its already been a year since our wedding day! In some ways, it feels like it has been way more than a year, but at other times I feel like it was last week! Everyone told us that the first year would require a lot of adjustments, but I really don't feel like it has and Tyler will agree. Maybe there is something wrong with us, but it has been nothing like what were told it would be like. When people have asked us how we like married life or other questions about being married, somehow its always come out that we found it to be an easy adjustment and that once we were married it just felt like we'd been married the whole 2 1/2 years we'd been dating too. Everything just sort of started to blend right together and its almost weird to think that we weren't husband and wife back then. Last year, not long after the wedding I started to write down everything I could about the day and I just couldn't do it. I couldn't get it quite right and write it the way I wanted to so I never posted it, but I realized even if it isn't perfect, I want to remember it the best that I can and so writing it or posting it somewhere is better than not at all. Sooo here it is...

December 29, 2010

I never imagined I would get married in the winter let alone in December, but now I can't imagine having it any other way, because the day was simply just like a fairy tale and completely perfect.

I woke up VERY early that morning. It was about 3:45am and sadly I woke up to a large amount of snow. I had prayed and prayed there wouldn't be any. I am not a  winter person and hoped it would be sunny and as warm as it possibly could be given that it was December, so I won't lie, seeing the snow got me a little down and a little worried, because I had refused to buy any kind of shawl or jacket to wear over my dress. I had figured I hadn't picked out my dress simply to cover it up and that yes (mom), I would rather freeze and show it off than be warm...so I was hoping I wasn't completely crazy and wouldn't totally freeze.

Joelle showed up just after 4am to do my hair and make up...around 6am I was all ready to go. Tyler arrived shortly after to head up to the temple. Once we were in the car, it finally set in. I was getting MARRIED. It was really happening. I was very excited! Once we had passed the point of the point of the Mountain the snow had eased up and we were able to increase our speed. As we approached Salt Lake, I began to get very very nervous. This was the only point I ever had cold feet. I began talking...without breathing inbetween...just nonstop talking. Tyler asked me if I was oay, and it wasn't until then that I realized how much I had been talking. I confessed that I was nervous and continued to talk nonstop until we arrived. Thankfully, there was no snow on the ground as we walked across the street from the parking garage to the temple, but it was very windy so I was very worried for my hair.
Once we got into the temple all my nerves were gone and instead I felt very very calm (this word basically describes the way I felt the rest of the day) and I knew everything was okay. We were very lucky to be the only 9 o'clock wedding and I got the brides room all to myself. After I had changed and was all ready Tyler and I were able to sit in the Celestial Room for almost an hour before the ceremony. I loved every minute of it. Our ceremony was beautiful and simply felt surreal. We were the first people to come out of the temple that day and it was amazing to have the Temple grounds all to ourselves, being that that is sooo rare at the Salt Lake Temple I felt especially lucky. Not only that, but the winds had pretty well calmed and we could not have asked for better weather.

It was so amazing having so many family and friends there to greet us and celebrate with us. It was almost overwhelming and afterwards I realized how many were there that I failed to take pictures with. I of course had wanted to and planned on it, but in the moment my mind was somewhere else I guess and I just flat out spaced it. To be honest, I probably would have forgotten more if it hadn't been for my photographers suggestions (Sorry if you were one of those I left out! I really was so glad to have you there and am so sad that I didn't take pictures with you!)

The entire time we took pictures on the temple grounds I just felt funny. I felt like it was all not real and I wasn't really taking my wedding pictures and it couldn't possibly be my wedding day. Everything just felt like a blur.

Thankfully, The only thing that ever got cold was my nose and my hands...the rest of me was just fine and was very grateful that the weather was as good as it was.

We really lucked out and got some amazing pictures and as we were finishing it began to get very very windy. Had we been married even an hour later we would not have the great pictures that we do, so I remember feeling so lucky and so grateful for them!

We left the temple and headed down to Orem for our luncheon and the roads were so yucky and snowy, so again I felt soo lucky that the temple had gone so well.

Our luncheon was great and gave us a chance to talk a little more to family and friends. We had just enough time to go home to change quick before we had to be off again and head over to the Bungalow. Once on our way, I remember thinking that the snow had kind of cleared up and the roads weren't nearly as bad. I even mentioned it to Tyler and said that it would sure make it nicer for people who would be coming to the reception. Little did I know it was the calm before the storm.

We literally pulled up to the Bungalow and I called my mom to see where she was at with my dress. In the 2 minutes I was on the phone, over and inch of snow had come down. And from there on out, it hit pretty fast. My mom ended up being late, because she had to turn around and go back home because of how fast the snow was coming down, so they traded in her van for my dad's truck. Thankfully they made it there okay. Because of how bad the snow was that evening a lot of people weren't able to make it to our reception. We missed them, but the night was still pretty perfect. We were able to get a lot of cool snowy pictures so I feel like I got a little of everything, a morning of great weather and clear skies and a night of freshly fallen snow!

The day was amazing and pefect and if I could, I would definitely love to go back and relive it! And since I can't I'm so glad I have my pictures and video to help me remember!!! Special thanks to my photographer Stephanie Sunderland and videographer Brandon Orton. They made the day even better for me!

Thank you all who came to the wedding, or because of the weather planned on coming and weren't able.

Cold Feet.

Scene set up: Tyler is leaving my house after Natalie's birthday party. I walk outside with him, bare footed.

Tyler: don't you need shoes?
Nicole: shoes are overrated.

More scene set up: We put our dishes from my grandma, which FINALLY arrived into Tyler's car to take to our apartment.

Nicole: guess what? only 12 more days!!
Tyler: my dad asked if you're getting cold feet yet.
Nicole: (laughs...looks down at her feet, then back up at Tyler.) yep, i am.

Hopefully those will be the only kind of cold feet I will be getting!!!
I can't wait for December 29th!

Wedding Update.

So for those of you who don't know when the big day is yet, it is on Dec. 29th! Plans are coming along quite nicely. I found my dress on Friday, and lucky for me it was the second one I tried on. I tried on about 10 or so after, but none of them were it and I couldn't get the one that is now "mine "out of my head. Chelsey took our engagements on Saturday and they turned out great. I'm DYING to post them, but told myself I didn't want to. I am keeping them a surprise til invites go out. I think its way more fun that way. I don't want to send out my invites and have the pictures be old news. The few of you who have seen them--you should feel lucky! :) Now I need to find a photographer for my bridals & the big day! If anyone has anyone they'd recommend please let me know!

He Put A Ring On It.

I'm ENGAGED!!!
Tyler & I finally decided it was time to get married!
We are soo excited & happy.

As for the engagement story...

So...Tyler and I have been talking about this for a while and we actually started planning things out several weeks before we got engaged. He got permission from my dad and then a week went by. Meanwhile, I was getting kind of upset, because there is only so much planning you can do before you make it official and announce it. I started bugging him about what he was waiting for and that he needed to get on it, but he wanted to catch me off guard I guess so he took his sweet time and definitely caught me off guard. All week long I had been dressing up--even changing out of my sweats on the days I had dance (this I never do w/o a good reason) Monday rolled around and it was no different. I got all cute and went to school. The problem was when I left my house the weather wasn't too bad. I left in a t-shirt and shrug...definitely not rain gear. By the time I got to school, it was pouring rain. Luckily I had a light jacket in my car I was able to throw on, but by the time I got to my first class...My hair was no longer straight thanks to lots and lots of rain...and my feet were soaked along with the bottom of my jeans. Everything that could have gone wrong this day, did. By the time the evening rolled around I had had it with the day and broke down in tears. So, there goes my makeup. Tyler wanted to go to Santaquin and was acting so funny, because he was trying to sell his car and had forgotten a guy was supposed to come and see it--meaning we would have to wait to go down to his parents. He tried canceling on the guy and I kept telling him we could go down another night that it was important to show the guy the car since he was driving down from Salt Lake. He tried rescheduling and the guy got really pushy and made it clear how interested he was. I thought Tyler was crazy for trying to blow him off, but in the end he decided to stick around and show the car. What I didn't know was that we were supposed to be going to dinner before heading out to Santaquin, but that wasn't possible since he had to show the car. Anyway, we went down to Santaquin...me makeup less...and wearing the biggest warmest hoodie I could find of Tyler's in his closet. We got to the house and I was upstairs with his mom, and him and his dad went downstairs, little did I know, they went downstairs and outside. They came back up a while later and sat back down with us for a bit. Tyler went to the window and mentioned that it had stopped snowing. His dad immediately was like--you should go look at the lights! (you can see a lot of the valley from their deck.) I thought it was sorta weird though, because it was foggy out. Then Tyler said I should come with him, at this point, I completely knew something was up. My suspisions were correct. He took me outside & we talked for a minute and then he walked me to the edge of the deck and had me look down...he spelt Marry Me? with glow sticks in the snow. Lucky for him, he had his dad's help who corrected it after Tyler started to spell merry instead of marry...haha. Then he got down on one knee and well...you can probably figure out the rest. :)

So for a long time Tyler has always joked that he was going to propose with a watch with diamonds rather than a ring...so when we began talking about getting married he asked me if he could propose with a Nixon Player because it has a real diamond in it. I told him no way, but that I would settle for the Nixon Chalet even though it's diamonds weren't real. So since it has always been our joke, he got me my watch too!!!

Events from the Weekend

My weekend basically rocked.
Tyler and I went to dinner with Mitch & Chels at Costa Vida.
Then we went with them down to Tyler's parents in Santaquin and watched Sherlock Holmes on their projector screen. It was a very good movie I thought. I hadn't seen it yet and although I was exhausted it kept me awake!

Saturday I had work. Yay! ugh... but then as soon as I was off it was Seven Peaks time! woot. woot. It was my first chance to be in the sun this summer and I loved it. I was way worried about getting burned though & caked on the sunscreen, unfortunately it kept me from getting even the slightest tan. This year I bought a season pass though so will have plenty of time for more sun! Seven peaks has a great deal for passes for students so I decided it would be well worth the money to have one. (I'm looking for friends/family to come with me on my days off work...so if you're up for a day at Seven peaks...you should seriously let me know!) After a day in the sun Tyler and I saw Date Night. Date Night [Blu-ray]I was a little disappointed in it, I didn't think it was as funny as the previews had made it up to be, but still a good movie I thought.

Sunday Russ & Misty had us over for dinner, we played Uno, watched the Thunderstorm (love them.), and watched Kung Fu Panda. Tyler & I hadn't seen it and loved it. Probably the best movie of the weekend in my opinion. All in all, I had a pretty great weekend and am already waiting for the next one to be here. The weekend makes the week well worth it. Especially now that it is summer.

And in other news....

Kevin and Page celebrated their one year anniversary Sunday! I can't believe it has already been a year since this.

And my best news of all? It is OFFICIAL my friends. July 22 I will be on my way to the ever-so-fabulous Island of Hawaii. Oahu to be more specific. We booked our flight last week & I can't wait. Time for some new great swim suits & summer clothes I think!

Hawaii is a great excuse to right?

Birthdays...Weddings...Graduations...OH MY!

I know I already posted once today, but I have a day off and nothing to do...So figured I may as well catch up on everything I haven't blogged about.

Friends take the Back Burner during finals...
So when a GREAT friend has a birthday. I forget to post!
It was my LONG time friend Shantel's Birthday clear back in April.
She was my VERY first friend I made when I moved to Lehi as a little 6 year old girl.
And we are still friends to this very day.

True friends can go long periods of time without speaking and never question their friendship. And pick up like they just spoke yesterday, regardless of how long it has been.

This quote perfectly describes Shantel. She is such an amazing friend

We did a girls dinner at Tucanos to celebrate her birthday.
We decided it was a mistake to take pictures AFTER we ate.
We wish these were all taken before since I felt 10lbs. heavier leaving!
My side of the table.
The other side of the table.
Me & Gorgeous Birthday Girl.
After Ky's brilliant idea failed.
Maddie, Ky, and Ali decided to sing Happy Birthday at the top of their lungs for Shan!
If I didn't know any better I'd say they'd been drinking! ;)

Thanks for letting letting me celebrate 20 with you Shan! You are an amazing friend. Love you girl!

In other news...
My friend Danielle got married on the 3rd!
She was a gorgeous bride!
I envy her beauty.
Especially in this picture...
Congrats Dano & Derek!

Last but not least I thought I'd post some pics from Kev's graduation!

Congrats again Bro!
